Writ to the sheriff of Hants to enquire whether Walter de Bosco his brother, or either of them, are guilty of the death of the (bercarii) of John de Stane, for which they were outlawed. Queen Eleanor and Richard earl of Cornwall. Westminster. March 38 Henry III. [1254.] : Walter de Bosco is guilty and William is not. On Sunday Epiphany 35 Henry III [4 January 1254] Nicholas the cobbler (sutor) made a feast (convivum) and there were there Thurston his father Thurston s son, and Walter de Bosco and William his brother came them and a conflict (quedam medlea) arose, in which John, shepherd of John Stane, took part. As Walter and his brother William went away, John the followed them, irritating and deriding them, so that Walter de Bosco back and struck him on the head with a pole (palo) so that he died.
