Power to the king's clerk, Master Henry de Bray, to deliver to Thomas de Normanvill, escheator beyond Trent, if he will receive them, the goods of Baldwin Wak, deceased, tenant in chief, to the value of 7241. 18s. 4d. and four horses, in which clear debt Baldwin was held to the king as appears by inspection of the rolls of the Exchequer, wherefore his said goods were taken into the king's hand in the manors of Lidel. co. Cumberland, Aton, Kirkeby Moresheved, Buttercram and Cotingham, co. York, and in other manors late of Baldwin in divers counties; and if the said escheator will receive them and answer therefor, the king wills that the said Henry sell the same and deliver the price to Thomas; and the king will discharge the heirs of Baldwin of the said sum; and if the goods exceed the said sum in value, the excess shall be delivered by Henry to Hawise, late the wife of Baldwin, that she may satisfy her husband's poorer creditors by view of the said Henry, Hugh Wak and Richard Roland.
