Grant to the abbot and convent of Theokesbiry that so long as the manor of Theokesbiry shall be in the king's hand on account of his custody of the land and heir of G. sometime earl of Gloucester, the tithes of hay of the same manor shall be given [to them], as well from the demesnes as from the villeinages ; on condition that, when the heir come of age, no prejudice shall arise to him by reason of this grant if he shall not then be willing to pay the said tithes, in accordance with letters patent to that effect which the abbot and convent have made to the king for the indemnity of the heir. It is found by inspection of a charter of Henry II that he granted to the abbey of Bordesle and the monks there, in almoin for ever, the hamlet of Holewey, which was member of the manor of Fecham ; wherefore it is the king's will and he charges that the monks have and hold the hamlet in almoin for ever, so that they be not distrained by the king's bailiffs of the manor of Fecham or others to give or carry litter to Fecham on the coming of the king there, as they were lately compelled by the said bailiffs to do contrary to their charter.
