Inspeximus and confirmation of divers grants to the abbot and convent of Fountains, viz. by Richard Malebisse of lands and rents in the town and territory of Queldriz, with the homage and services of his tenants there and in Wartre, the mere (zara) called Alemare, the assart which King John gave him, and the alder grove, :nill and pond with its liberties and easements ; also of another grant by him to them of 9 bovates of land in Thorneton with the men and their issues there; by Walter de Beauvaiz, of a bovate of Jand in Tornetona; by Geoftrey Haget of the town of Torpe in Burgsira and the land of Kllewyk, saving half acarucate of land held by the nuns of Saingtnwayt and another carucate held by them in Wreton; by William de Estuteville of 2 carucates of land in Elnewyk, and of a quit-claim by him to them to the service which Geoffrey Haget was accustomed to do to him for 2 carucstes of land in Elnewyk, viz. 4s. a year; and also of his grant and confirmation to them of a fishery in the water of the Jor and . Parr II. 435 cennt. of the Use from Boroughbridge to the walls of York, with one fisherman and his servant, together with two boats, a drag-net. (sagena) and nets, provided they do not make fisheries, nor fix piles ; by Edmund ear of Cornwall, of a free transit in the waters of the Yore and Ouse betweer Boroughbridge and the city of York for the use of their house and their sustenance quit cf toll, passage, pontage and every other custom belonging to the earl; by Thomas son of Alan de Arches, of his capital messuage in the town of Reington, with the chapel and lands, meadows and pustures in that town, with his natives and their issues and the entire service of the cotters (cotariorum), together with the said cotters (cum predictis cotartis), also of the liberty and entire common which he held in the moor of Hoton, with the quarry of the moor ; Ly Gilbert de Wattona, of land and pasture lying between the place where Pozbec and Grymesdalebec meet, along Grimesdalebec to Frostildehou, and from thence to Stemscougrim along the path from Lofthusum against Bacstambek, and along it to the head of Crawelle, and thence to the carriage way from Aikelid against Grimesdalebek, with free transit in Aldolflund and Surmire for his cattle, with hay and covering for their lodges, excepting pasture within those bounds for 20 cows with their calves until the latter are a year old; also of another grant by him of necessary ways through his fee; by Robert de Crammavilla, of his demesne of Slenigford, his lands in the territory of that town, his villeins and their issues, the mill of the town, and the services of his free tenants there and in Mickelhag ; by Ranulph de Neusun, of 7 bovates of land in Neusum by Kirkebiwysk, and of the service of John de Suape for 2 bovates and 3 acres of land, with a rent of 10s., and one toft in the same town; by Ranulph son of Robert de Neusum, of 6 tofts, 9 bovates and 3 acres of land in the same town; of the release which Robert de Estoteville, lord of Couseby, son of Walter de Estoteville, made to them of 7 bovates of land in Neusum, and of the service of John de Snape for 2 bovates and 3 acres of land, with a rent of 10s., in the same town ; ofa grant by Peter son of Peter de Brus of one carucate of land in Arneford, and of a release by him of all services which belonged to him for the same land ; of a grant and confirmation to them by Peter de Brus the third, of all the lands, rents, and possessions which they held from his ancestors of his fee, and of all lands, rents, and possessions held by them in Merston of his fee, with a release of suit of court for all the before-named lands; of a release which John de Neville, son and heir of Jollan de Neville, made to them of 43 carucures of land in Rokesby and Pikehale; and of the grant, confirmation, and quit-claim which Elias son of Elias de Treskefeld made to them of one carucate of land in Treskefeld, and of pasture for 300 sheep within the pasture of Treskefeld.
