Inspeximus and confirmation of divers grants, made without licence of the late king, to the abbot and convent of Seleby, to give effect to a licence to acquire in mortmain lands and rents to the value of 282. a year, granted to them in consideration of the release they gave the king for 492. 8s., in which he is bound to them for corn and other victuals lately bought from them for the sustenance of the household, viz.: a grant by Peter Houshald of a messuage and 10 acres of land in Seleby ; by Walter del Hille of 2s. of rent in the same town and of 2d. of rent in Bardelby; by William de Hamelton of 8s. of rent in Lunde by Gateford; by John the forester (Forestarius) of 9s. 6d. of rent in Burton by Brayton; by Norman de Arcy of a messary (messaria) in Stalingburgh ; by William Balle of Stalingburgh of 2 acres of land in the same town; by Adam de Roma of lands in Acastre ; and alvyo of a quit-claim, to them by Henry son of Simon de Rouclyve of bis right to divers tofts and lands in the town of Rouclive.
