Parr I. 819 and Salop, touching complaints laid before the king on behalf the men of Lodelowe, as well of merchants as of others dwelling there, a large confederacy of evildoers has formed a plot against them they come out of their town to trade and do other business and that men have assaulted many of them at Leomynstre and elsewhere, Hereford, and Assheford Jones and elsewhere, co. Salop, whereby of them have lost their limbs and some have been imprisoned until made fines with them, and that they have besieged the town of for a long time, for which cause none dare to come forth from town to make their profit, and have in many ways oppressed them to the statute that none bear arms against the peace, for which no remedy has as yet been applied by the keepers of the peace others of the king's ministers. Whereas two ships of Spain freighted with goods sold by avoirdupois one called la Seynt Johan de Bilvauo and the other la Seynt de Castre, have been arrested in the port of Plommuth by the of that town for trespasses done by Spaniards against the men the town, and the merchants and masters of these ships have made to the king for a remedy herein, he has appointed his at arms, William de Cornewaill, to release the same from arrest delay and bring them to London to await the order of the and to give public warning that all wishing to complain against said merchants and masters be before the council by the Ascension at latest to prosecute their plaints.
