Licence after inquisition ad quod damnum made by John de Bolyngbrok, escheator in the counties of Warwick, &c. for the abbot of Roucestre in Dovedale to remove the chapel of Halywell, co. Warwick, which is situated in asolitary dangerous spot on the highway of Watlyngstrete, frequented by robbers who rob the canons dwelling there and others passing along that street, and to make and maintain the chantry long since established in the chapel for the souls of Robert de Cotes and Richard Fyton, in the abbot's conventual church of Roucestre ; and to this end to let to farm the 24 virgates of land in Halywell, Chirchewaure and Cliffton, which the abbot holds for the maintenance of the chantry.
