Inspeximus and confirmation of a charter of Louis, bishop of Durham, dated at Durham, 18 May 1820, granting to Robert de Toughale, viz. that, whereas Richard de Scremerston had granted to the said Robert and his heirs a sixth part of the manor of Scremerston, although the said sixth part as an escheat had come into the bishop's hands, the bishop granted and confirmed such sixth part to Robert de Toughale, to hold to him and his heirs by the usual services ; witnesses, Master John de Insula, the bishop's steward of Durham, Sir Thomas Gray, constable of the bishop's castle of Norham, William Rydel and Robert de Clifford, knights, Robert de Agarston, Richard de Clifford and Patrick de Gosewyk.
