Signification to N. archbishop of Ardmagh of the royal assent to the election of John Tarran to be abbot of the house of the Apostles, Luueth. Protection with clause volumus, until Christmas, for tlie abbot of Hales, going beyond seas. Mandate to all bailiffs and others, to protect all the merchants of the count of Seyland coming through their parts with their merchandise, since the said count has agreed to make amends at the will of the king on a day fixed for certain trespasses done by his own merchants against the king's merchants, by reason of which the king lately ordered all the bailiffs of the kingdom to seize all the goods of the merchants of the said count found in the towns situated near the sea or which should come thither until further orders ; and they are to safely keep all goods already seized at sea in pursuance of the said mandate until further order.
