Association of Walter de Hopton with Hoel son of Meurice and Adam le Butiller in a commission of oyer and terminer directed to the latter touching complaints by certain men of the town of Bergeveny of injuries done to them by Master Henry de Bray, king's steward, and his officers. Commission of oyer and terminer to Ralph de Hengham and John de Lovetot, by jury of Norfolk, touching trespasses committed against William, bishop of Norwich, by Roger le Bygod, earl of Norfolk and marshal of England, and his men. The like to W[illiam], bishop of Norwich, John de Vescy, Master Robert de Scardeburg, and Thomas de Normanvill, by jury of York, touching complaints made before the king of injuries done to Robert de Balliolo by Geoffrey de Nevill and vice versa. The like to the same touching complaints by A[lexander], king of Scotland, of the baiUffs and officers of Edward I. of the parts of Northumberland, touching certain rights and liberties which he claims, and touching the contention by the king's bailiffs as to the reception of evildoers in Scotland and their return into England, The like to the same touching the contentions between the said king of Scotland and R. bishop of Durham, before the king and the said commissioners in the last parliament, and afterwards before the king and council, in presence of attorneys of the said Alexander, whom he had sent to court on this account after his own retirement. And it is commanded them, if all cannot attend, that three attend to the business. Mandate by writ close to the said bishop to inquire as cautiously and secretly as possible as to homage and all circumstances touching the said homage, but not to attempt to do anything therein without the king's special mandate.
