Appointment of Henry to the see of Lincoln, void by the death of John. Henry de Malmefted (Mannesfeld), dean, having been elected, refused the election, whereupon the chapter elected Anthony [Bek] the chancellor, who petitioned the archbishop of Canterbury to confirm the election, but on learning that the appointment was reserved to the pope, the chancellor appealed to him, who annulled it. Concurrent letters to the chapter of Lincoln, to the clergy, and to the people of the diocese, to vassals of the church, to the archbishop of Canterbury, and to the king.
