July 1, Avignon
To the dean and chapter of Hereford. Grant of the parish church of Scenigfeld, value 20/. of their patronage, with the chapel of Swallefeld in the diocese of Salisbury, for the rebuilding of the cathedral, so long as the work shall last. The old foundations were said by architects to be sound, and 20,000 marks having been spent in the superstructure, the whole threatened to fall, so that this sum and that spent on the canonization of Thomas de Cantalupo have burdened the chapter with debts. To penitents who contribute to the rebuilding of Hereford cathedral, Relaxation of sixty days of enjoined penance.
