Writ to the sheriff and coroners of Northampton to enquire into outlawry of Simon son of John Lesquyer, imprisoned at Bruges and of the death of Philip son of Robert, as to which he is willing to himself upon the country. Thursday before the Epiphany 8 Edward I [5 January 1280 by a jury of Guilsborough H.]: Simon was outlawed for Philip's death on the appeal of Agnes, Philip's wife, but is not guilty. And when they had thus supped for a while to squabble (objurgare) in their own language (suo ydiomate), so sprang (prosiluit) from the table like a madman, drew his knife wounded each of the others. As they sprang from the table he pursued Guy and tried to kill him, and he seeing no way of escape house (propter domum artam) where they were, drew his knife Leonard in the right side of the belly. Leonard lived six days would neither eat nor drink anything but cold water, which his forbade him.
