June 35, Inquisition

Writ to the sheriff of Salop to enquire into the outlawry of Henry of Richard de Astley. It is stated that Henry de Monte Acuto with some his following lately attacked Henry son of Richard and others who were in a house at Shrewsbury by night, and some of Henry son of Richard's came out of the house and pursued these disturbers of the peace hue and cry, and when they resisted killed Henry de Monte Acuto in Although Henry did not come out of the house he was indicted his companions for this, and through simplicity took to flight, though guilty, and after due exaction was outlawed in the county court. 8 November 7 Edward I. [1279.] Inquisition : Henry is not guilty, but fled through simplicity and for fear the kinsfolk of Henry de Monte Acuto and so was outlawed. Cf. Patent 2228.
