Writ to the sheriff of York. Perth. 30 June 31 Edward I. [1303.] Inquisition : Scardeburgh. Monday the feast of St. Mary Magdalene. Thomas son of Roger Petytwyll of Scardeburgh was killed in the first battle Berwick-on-Tweed in Scotland among the Scots as the king's enemy. At the time of his death he held immediately of the prior of Malton a in Scardeburgh by the yearly service of 6s. 8d., which was taken into king's hand by the bailiff of Seardeburgh half a year afterwards, and has in the king's hand since that time ; it is of the yearly value of 20s.
