Writ to the sheriff and coroners of Westmoreland. Perth. 20 July Edward I. [1303.] Inquisition : Heveresham. Sunday before St. Laurence. William de Stirkeland held a messuage and 30 acres of land in Helsington the alienation of the inheritance of Elizabeth his wife, the reversion belongs to Walter de Stirkeland as her son and heir. The said William the said tenements to Adam Warde in fee, and enfeoffed him thereof the statute [of Gloucester] to hold of the said William and of the heirs the said Elizabeth by homage and the yearly service of a penny. The tenements are in the king's hand for the felony of the said Adam in Henry le Mouner, and were seized by Roger de Coquina, coroner and of the king, on Thursday before St. George 29 Edward I; they are the yearly value of 10s. ; the township of Helsington ought to answer for the time after the seisin.
