Writ to the sheriff of Suffolk. Westminster. 1 December Edward I. [1291.] Inquisition : Becles. Monday after St. Peter's Chair 21 Edward I. John de Wellyngton and others unknown in his fellowship took the swans - John le Bygod, knight, swimming from the river near Becles to the pond of Roger de Wellyngton, and amputated their beaks, and afterthrew them into the pond and let them go.
