Writ to Nicholas Fermbaud, constable of Bristol Castle, and the of that town. Canterbury. 12 July 21 Edward I. [1293.] Inquisition : Bristol. Thursday the morrow of St. Mary Magdalene. Matthew le Packer of Bristol purchased a messuage in Bristol from John la Corderie, and afterwards granted the same to the said John and Maud, of the said Matthew, and their heirs in tail, with reversion to the of the said John, saving however 40s. a year for forty years after the death the said John and Maud to the heirs of the said Matthew ; the said John Maud were seised of the said messuage, and the said John died seised The said messuage is held of the king by the yearly service of a of gilt spurs; the constable and bailiffs after the death of the said John the same into the king's hand, because the said Maud and Richard, son heir of the said Matthew, and Richard brother of the said John, claim therein.
