Writ ta Soloman de Roffa and his fellows, justices itinerant in Suffolk. Witness, Edmund, earl of Cornwall. Westminster. 22 January Edward I. [1287.] Inquisition : Catteshale. Saturday the eve of the Purification. Some men of Dunwich drove a cart through the town of Keleshale across demesnes of earl Roger Bigod, damaging his corn ; whereupon the earl's wished to attach the cart, and William de Suwaud of Dunwich and who were with the cart, would not allow the cart to be attached or amends for the damage, but resisted Roger Bachelor, the earl's man, and him ; who called for aid and at length took the cart and the horses to the manor of Coleshale. The said William de Suwaude and the went to Dunwich, and returned with great power (asswmpto secum posse), and forcibly took away the cart and horses, and took about animals in Middelton from William le Poer, customary tenant of the and drove them to Dunwich. The earl came to his manor, and by of his council demanded satisfaction from the men of Dunwich; a was arranged at Westleton, but they could not agree. In returning the earl's bailiffs took certain beasts found in Westleton both the trespass done to the earl at Keleshale and because they understood there were among them beasts of certain bondmen and fugitives of the C.
