Writ to the mayor and bailiffs of Newcastle-on-Tyne. Westminster. May 56 Henry III. [1272.] Inquisition : Wednesday before Midsummer 56 Henry III. The actual possible damage to Hugh de Merchingley from the raising of the city wall to his lands amounts to 21/. 2s. 4d. as far as concerns the sale and quitof the said lands, saving the yearly rent of half a mark due to the prior convent of Hexteldham.
