To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer. Whereas on 3 November, the 8th year of the king's reign, it being found by inquisition taken by de Northo, late escheator in cos. Surrey, Sussex, Kent, and Midthat Margaret de Lenham held at her death the manor of Huntyngdon, Kent, in the archbishopric of Canterbury, lately void and in the king's by the service of a knight's fee and of making suit at the great of the archbishop of Canterbury once yearly, and that Eleanor de whom John Gyffard married is her next heir and of full age ; and on 5 February in the same year the king took the fealty of J. archbishop of that place and restored the temporalities of the archto him, the king ordered the said escheator to deliver the said to John Giffard and Eleanor; the king has given John and Eleanor until the Ascension next for rendering their account for the issues that manor for the time when it was in the king's hands by Margaret's and orders the treasurer and barons to cause them to have that and to supersede the demand made upon the said escheator or upon present escheator in those counties, in his account, for rendering the issues to the king and to supersede the process against John, Eleanor, the said escheators for the said cause, releasing them from any distraint for that cause.
