Botiller of Bastilden, co. Berks, acknowledges that he owes to de Burton, knight, 2801. ; to be levied etc. in the said county. of indenture testifying that whereas John Botiller of co. Berks, is bound to Sir William de Burton, knight, in 280/. preceding recognisance, to be paid at Christmas next, William grants if he is paid by William de Holbech, citizen and draper of London, by of a statute merchant made to John by the said William de Holbech, at certain days appointed, or if the payment of 140/. is not so made and John sue against the said William de Holbech by form of law, to recover the said debt for the said Sir Wilham without making aequittance thereof in the meantime except with the assent of Sir William, the recognisance shall be void.
