To the same. Order to supersede the demand made upon Margaret late wife of Edmund, earl of Kent, for 241. Os. 4d. for the price of the corn, and other goods which were in the manor of Bedhampton on the March in the 4th year of the reign, and to discharge her and her thereof if they find upon inspection of their rolls and and by taking inquisition, if necessary, that the corn ete. were into the king's hands by the forfeiture of John Mautravers and to Margaret, were the earl's own goods on the said 14 March and to Margaret and her co-executors; as the king ordered the sheriffs Rutland, Leicester, Surrey, Gloucester, Southampton and Somerset to cause all the corn ete. in the earl's manors of Rihale, co. Casteldonyngton, co. Leicester, Wockyng with its members Hoke, and Pirbright, co. Surrey, Lichelad, Bardesle and Musardere, co. Bedhampton, co. Southampton, and Somerton, Kyngesbury and co. Somerset, to be appraised and delivered to Margaret by a security from Margaret that all the goods, ete. so delivered to her were the own goods, yet the treasurer and barons have caused the price of . Panrr 2. 141 same to be exacted of her, ordered them to supersede the demand upon her if they found this to be so after inspecting the rolls memoranda of the exchequer and having taken an inquisition thereif necessary, and now Margaret has informed the king that although the corn, etc. which were in the manor of Bedhampton on the said day, and which were granted to John Mautravers after the earl's together with the manor, and which afterwards forfeited to the and were delivered to her by the sheriff of Southampton for the of the earl's will, were delivered to her, yet the treasurer and distrain her for 24/. Os. 4d. at which the said goods were appraised the sheriff, as if they ought to pertain to the king, whereupon she besought the king to provide a remedy.
