The king has received complaint from Hugh burgess of Southampton, that whereas he lately caused a ship of Za Katerine of Bayonne (Bayon), whereof Reymund Spiap to be freighted with 180 tuns of wine of certain merchants at Leyburn in Gascony, in order to carry the same to Le in Flanders, and the master and mariners of the ship took the ship to that port, Peter Aymet and certain men of Normandy, prethat the ship was theirs, procured its arrest with all its tackle withcause; and, as the king learns, there is a suit in the count's before the burgomasters and échevins of La Muwe on La Swyne in concerning the purparty of the said ship, lately called La Porteof Southampton, now La Katerine of Bayonne, between the said and Peter and the men aforesaid, and it was so far proceeded in the that the ship was judicially delivered to Hugh according to the law meras appears by the process therein, and it is not consonant with right properly rendered should be brought back again into disthe king therefore requests the count to order the said process to be - and if he find that the ship was thus jndicially delivered to Hugh, the ship and its tackle to be released from arrest and delivered to merchant or his attorney in this behalf, so conducting himself in that it may not behove the king to provide the merchant with remedy through the count's default, certifying the king of his protherein by his Jetters and by the bearer of the presents.
