To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer and to the chamberlains. Tower. Order to pay 47/. 10s. to John Baroncetli, John Junctin and their fellows, merchants of the society of the Peruzzi, or to give them an assignment where they may quickly be satisfied, if that sum is found to be owing to them upon inspection of the rolis and memoranda of the exchequer and by an inquisition taken upon the matter, as the merchants have besought the king, that whereas at their suit, showing that they had delivered divers deeds of obligation and other evidences, by which several men were bound to Hugh le Despenser, the younger, in divers great sums of money, which ought to be levied for the king's use by reason of Hugh's forteiture, upon the account rendered by the merchants at the exchequer of the money and other things which belonged to Hugh, in their custody; and they hold the manor of Turnumhall, co. York, which belonged to Hugh, of the bishop of Durham as of the manor of Houeden, which they held for a term of years in the time of the late king by the demise or Lewis, bishop of Durham, by the service of 10/, yearly, and 50/. for that service for five years, while the manor of Houeden was in their hands, and Hugh held the manor of Turnumhall, they find that he has spent that sum by the king's order directing him to cause the bridge of that manor to be repaired by the view and testimony of the sheriff of Nottingham, and he has spent 44s. 7d. on the said repairs, as may fully appear, he says, by an indenture made thereupon between himself and the sheriff. 20.
