the mayor and bailiffs of Canterbury. Order to pay to William de and Lapinus atte Chaunge, citizens of that city, their expenses for the said parliament, to wit 20d. a day each. [Jbid.] like for the citizens and burgesses of thirteen cities and boroughs. of release by Hugh son of William Giffard, knight, to Sir de Badelesmere, knight, of his right in the manor of Barewe St. Edmunds, co. Suffolk, with all appurtenances and the advowson of church. Witnesses: Sir Thomas de Grey, Sir Robert de Bures, Sir de Asphale, Sir Robert de Watevill, Sir Bartholomew de Burgherssh, ; John son of John de Coggeshale, John de Goldyngton. Dated at 3 June, 12 Edward II. of release by Hugh Giffard son of Sir William Giffard, to Matilda de Clare, countess of Gloucester and Hertford, of all against her that he might have by reason of the two robes yearly of suit of her clerks and the 10/. of yearly pension granted to him by her the life of Lady Katherine, his mother, and by reason of any costs expenses in defending the manor of Barewe, which she granted to him the said Katherine should be impleaded concerning the said manor by John Giffard of Boytone, and of all arrears of the said robes, pension, expenses. Dated at York, 6 June, 12 Edward II. that Hugh came into chancery at York on the said day, acknowledged the above deed. of grant by Bartholomew de Badelesmere, knight, to Hugh son of Sir William Giffard, knight, of 10/7. of yearly rent and two robes of the suit and livery of Bartholomew's clerks, to be received from manor of Barewe, co. Suffolk, unti] Hugh be provided by him or heirs with a yearly promotion of 100/. Dated at York, 7 June, Edward II.
