To the sheriff of Devon. Order to cause proclamation to be made that no fisher taking fish within the bounds of the waters of Sutton, Plymmouth and Tamer, now within the lordship of Joan princess of Wales the king's mother, shall under pain of forfeiture thereof sell them or expose them for sale elsewhere than within the towns of Plymmouth and Aysshe, paying the customs and duties of old time accustomed ; as it is found by divers inquisitions, taken before Martin de Ferrers and William Brantyngham by virtue of the king's commission to John Kentwode, John Cary and to them, that all fishers taking fish in the sea within those bounds and there landing them used to make sale thereof in the said towns, and that there and nowhere else it ought to be and used to be made time out of mind, and that the king and his ancestors by their representatives always took the customs and duties thereupon.
