To all sheriffs, mayors, constables, bailiffs, ministers etc. to whom Writ de intendendo in favour of the president of the Hospital St. John of Jerusalem in England for the time being appointed or deputy, and order, as they would avoid the king's wrath, upon suit, certificate or information of the president to arrest and to him all brethren of the Hospital whom they shall find to and fro about the country, to be chastised according the discipline and rule of their order; as the king has learned certain of the brethren, despising their profession and casting their habit, some also persisting in their habit but abandoning by reason of this vacancy and for lack of a pastor to and folly, are wandering from country to country in against the said president, squandering the goods of the and doing daily many things to the scandal of their and the peril of their souls.
