To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer. Order to allow to the of Bedeford, in their ferm, 10/. yearly from 31 July, in the fifth of the king's reign, when Roger Lestrange (Z£xtraneus) died, the late having granted that sum yearly from the ferm of the town of Bedeford Matilda, wife of the said Roger, in case she survived her husband, be- Roger held no lands in fee whereof his wife might have dower for her after his death, the king having ordered the bailiffs of Bedeto pay Matilda the above sum yearly during her life from the said July.
