To the collectors of the custom of wool, hides and wool-fells in the port London. Order to pay to Henry de Lancastr ia] earl of Derby or his 887 marks 2s. 03d, and if they have not that money ready then permit the earl to take 400 sacks of wool of the wool of merchants of realm or of Brabant to the staple at Andewerp, allowing the said sum the custom and subsidy thereon, certifying William de Northwell, keeper the wardrobe, of the residue of the said custom and subsidy, so that he receive it from the earl for the king's use, as on 18 March in the 11th of the reign the king granted the earl 1,000 marks yearly of the issues the customs, 400 in the port of London, 800 in the port of Kyngeston Hull and 800 in the port of Boston, to be received for the life of earl of Lancaster, the earl's father, and on 8 October following the granted to the earl the manor of Wyghton and the hundred of co. Norfolk, and the manor of Laghton in Morthyng, co. which Ralph count of Eu, an alien lately held, to the value of 7s. 64d. yearly at which they were extended in part satisfaction of the marks, and the earl has besought the king to cause an allowance in custom and subsidy to be made to him for 400 marks for Easter and terms of the 11th year, of the said 1,000 marks, and 2s.0 d. for Easter and Michaelmas terms in the 12th year and for term last, having deducted the extent of the said manors and which sums are in arrear to him. - By ps.
