Location network
An explorable web of which seats led onto which. Each place is a node sized by how often it was a stage on the seal's travels; lines show how many journeys ran between two places. This is a network of connections, not geography. A place's position reflects how it clusters with the places it travelled to, not where it sits on a map. Built from the dated, geocoded entries: two places link when the seal moved between them within 60 days (see the place explorer's data note for caveats). The layout is a force simulation, so well-connected seats pull together.
