Ratification of a sale by Halingrat the Balister to the abbot and convent of Roche of his whole land which he had of the gift of the king by charter in Karleton in Lindrik; saving to the king the yearly rent of a pair of gilt spurs or 6d. at Kaster for all service, which the abbot and convent shall render to the sheriff of Nottingham. Because it is a pious work to help Christians exposed to the dangers of the sea so that they may be brought into the haven out of the waves of the deep, it is commanded to J. son of Geoffrey, justiciary of Ireland, that, so long as the lands late of W. Marshal, earl of Pembroke, in Ireland, are in his custody, he shall let the wardens and chaplains of St. Saviour's, Rendenan, who are building there a tower as a signal and warning to those at sea to avoid danger, have such maintenance in money and other liveries out of the issues of the said lands fas they have had], with the arrears due to them.
