Mandate to the barons of Sandwich upon information that certain evildoers, to wit, William de Mariscis, Robert de Mariscis his brother, and their accomplices of the land of the king of Scotland, have now put to sea with galleys to inflict harm and losses upon merchants and others crossing between England and Ireland, and that these evildoers lately took men and merchants of Bristol, Dublin and Drogheda, coming with merchandise from Irelund to England, killing some, wounding others, and holding others to grievous ransom for the whole service due from them, to equip two of the king's galleys with their boats, and one good ship at Winchelese, with good men and well armed and furnished, and when opportunity offers to cause them to come to Portesmuth to await the king's orders there ; and to certify the king of the day they come there with the barons of the rest of the ports, to whom the king has sent the same mandate.
