To the constables of Chester and Beeston (de Iiupe). Because the king has heard for certain that J. earl of Chester and Huntingdon, their lord, is dead, which grieves him, he is sending to them Henry de Aldithelegh to dispose of the custody of the said castles for the preservation of them and of those parts; and he commands them to be attending and answering to him in all things which concern the custodies. Because the king has heard of the death of the said earl, at which he mourns deeply, he is sending to them the said Henry and Hugh le Despenser to provide for the security of those parts, to make provision touching the lands and possessions of the earl and to receive their fealty ; and he commands them to be attending and answering to the said Henry, during pleasure.
