Commission of oyer and terminer to Thomas Berkelee, John Lovell, Peter Courtenay, Robert de Haryngton, Matthew Gournay, Humphrey Stafford, Ivo Fitz Waryn, William Stourton and John Manyngford touching certain evildoers who, when Thomas Neuton, esquire, late collector of the ulnage of cloths in the county of Somerset, came to Phehippes Norton, co. Somerset, and wished to proclaim the king's letters patent and other things touching his office in the fair lately held there to . Parr II. 517 the effect that he and his deputies might more quietly use their office there, rose in insurrection and incontinently after the raising of three hearings by him assaulted him and killed one of his servants exercising the said office there, inflicting on the said Thomas more than a hundred mortal wounds, and followed certain deputies of his to kill them so that they scarcely escaped alive from the fair, and not content with this wander about from place to place doing evil.
