Licence for John Scotte, esquire, John Rederice, William Pounde, Edward Whyte, Philip Taillour of Bristol and Nicholas Kent, burgess of Galueye in Ireland, to cross to Ireland with as many fencible men as they wish to provide at their own expense and wage war there against the rebels and enemies of the king in the said town of Galueye, which in times past was of the king's allegiance until lately it was taken in war by one William Burgh, chivaler, by the assent of certain traitors in it, and in the islands of Arons, which always lie full of galleys for the spoiling of the king's lieges, to the end that if they can take the town and islands they shall have to their own use all goods of the rebels and enemies of the king there and all that they can take in the same, saving to the king the rights, rents, revenues, services and moneys pertaining to his royalty there and saving the right of the son and heir of Roger de Mortuo Mari, late earl of March, deceased, minor and in the king's custody, and other lieges of the king. They shall have passage in four ships of the said John Rederice, William Pounde, Edward and Philip called le Cristofre, la Trintte, le Nicholas and la Marie of Bristol, and they shall not wage war against any Irish or others of the king's allegiance, and the king has ordered the mayor of Bristol to take security from them to that effect in 1,000I.
