Pardon to John Clerk, of Herlowe, co. Essex, yoman, for having on Friday in the second week of Lent in the eighth hour of the night broken the close and houses of John Campion at Herlowe and assaulted the said John and stolen from him thirty pairs of sheets worth 6 marks, four linen cloths worth 20s., a gown of scarlet furred with byce worth 100s., and 10/. in money and other goods to the value of 20l., whereof he was not guilty, but the indictment made by his mortal enemies to procure his death, for fear whereof he broke out of prison of the castle of Colchestre ; and pardon further of any consequent outlawry.
