Licence, for 41. paid in the hanaper, for Lewis Johan, knight, Robert Darcy, Thomas Rolf, John Doreward, Andew Michell and John Basset of Chishell, to enfeoff Edward Tyrell, esquire, Richard Shipley and Gregory Wery, clerk, of the manor of Merkhall alias Latton Merk in Latton, co. Esgex, and of the advowson of Latton priory, held in chief, except one acre of land in the said manor, and for them to enfeoff John de Tiptoft and de Powys, knight, Alexander Prowet, clerk, Walter Taylard, Robert Crane, Richard Forster, John Prisote, Nicholas Hamond, John Kirkeby, John Broddesworth, Nicholas Scotte and William Hamond of the premises, on condition that they pay to the said Edward, Richard Shipley and Gregory, or their executors at London in the church of the New Temple 800 marks, to wit, 40 marks at Michaelmas next or within three months after, 40 marks at Michaelmas following or within three months after, and so forth, and that no acquittance be evidence of such payment except that of the said Richard Shipley, if he be alive, sealed with his seal and bearing date in the said church and not elsewhere, and should they or any of them fail to keep the foregoing, it shall be lawful for the said Edward, Richard Shipley and Gregory and their heirs to re-enter immediately into the said manor and advowson and hold them in fee. 24.
