Notification of letters patent of Robert Widcombe and John Skryven, bailiffs and elders of the town of Shrewsbury, dated under the seal of the liberty of that town, at Shrewsbury, on the feast of Corpus Christi, 16 Henry VI, confirming the ordinance, dated at Shrewsbury, on the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 18 Henry VI, and made by the masters of the art of weavers in the said liberty, to wit, Richard Parker and Robert Holond, stewards of the said art, and others, for the honour of God and the maintenance of the light to be carried about at the feast of Corpus Christi, with the consent of Thomas Forster and William Boerley, then bailiffs of the town; provided also that all followers of the said art within the town, liberty and other places of the adjacent hundred contribute to the charges expressed in the said ordinance, as the said masters and their successors are bound to do: and granting to John Ercal and John Berde, stewards of the art at the date of the confirmation, powers of punishment, distraint and execution in the case of all offences and forfeitures arising amongst the said artificers. 4.
