Grant, for life, to Thomas Carre, from 26 March last, of the office of p- keeping the king's herbage, which office is called Gresselee, in the forest Vastle. of Galtres, co. York, to hold himself or by deputy, with 4J. 4s. 84d. a year at the feasts of St. Peter and St. Paul by the hands of the receiver of the king's revenues within the said forest ; with all other fees and profits to the said office of Gresselee belonging ; in lieu of a grant by letters patent dated 26 March last, surrendered because they did not mention the said 4l. 48. 8 . paid to the said receiver from certain townships [reading villatis for villanis and hamlets within the said forest. By p.s. 16. Whereas Master William Bray, late judge in the principal court of the admiralty of England, deceased, pronounced a definitive sentence in favour of Richard Bokelond and John Melbourne, the plaintiffs in & maritime action against Gerard Vanteleke relative to a collision sustained by a ship called le Antony of London, which was confirmed, upon appeal, by Master Thomas Bekynton, doctor of laws, and certain colleagues, the king's commissaries to hear such appeal; and thereupon John Tylney, lieutenant or commissary general of John, earl of Huntyngdon, admiral of England, wrongly supposing that Bertram alias Bertold Qwestenborth, Adam Forster, Henry Merssh and Herman Wanwesell were sureties by bond for the payment of such judgement, though they, and particularly the said Bertram, were nothing of the kind, sequestered certain of his goods and merchandise of Prussia, worth by common estimation 250l. of English money, and appraised them at 1721. only, they being within the bodies of counties and outside any jurisdiction of the admiral, in the absence of the said Bertram, who was never legally summoned and whose absence was therefore not contumacious: and moreover notwithstanding that appeal had been made from the said confirmatory sentence to the king's audience, and allowed by the said Master Thomas Bekynton and his said colle sgues, and notwithstanding that the king, at the instance of the said Her ry Merssh, had commanded the said Tylney to do nothing in derogation of the royal authority, on which had thus devolved all jurisdiction and executory authority in the matter, or to the damage of the said defendants, the same Henry Tylney sold and distributed the goods to his friends or at least to the plaintiffs and their friends or permitted such course to be followed and utterly refused to restore such goods to the said Bertram ; the king, on the appeal of the said Bertram, now appoints W. bishop of Lincoln, Master William Lyndewode, doctor of both laws, Master Zanobius de Mulakinis, doctor of .decrees, Master Thomas Bekynton, doctor of laws, Master John Stokes, doctor of laws, John Stortwayte, bachelor in both laws, John Lyndefeld, bachelor in laws, William HEstfeld and Henry Frowyk, to hear and determine such appeal. 18.
