Grant in furtherance of a grant by Henry VI by authority of the Parliament at Westminster, 8 Henry Vi , to the king's kinsman Richard bishop of Salisbury, the warden or dean, and the canons of the king's free chapel of St. George within the castle of Wyndesore that they shall henceforth form one corporate body and shall have perpetual succession and a common seal, with power to acquire lands, liberties and other possessions and to implead and be impleaded ; licence for the king's kinsman John, duke of Suffolk, and Elizabeth his wife, the king's sister, to grant to them in mortmain the manor or lordship of Grobury alias Grovebury alias Leighton Bosard, co. Berks (rectius Bedford), held in chief; licence for them to acquire in mortmain lands, rents or advowsons to the value of 5001. yearly ; and grant that they shall be quit of fines or fees for any letters patent, charters or writs of the king.
