Parr 2. 141 Whereas it was found by an inquisition taken before Robert Merbury, escheator in the county of Northampton, that Thomas Billyng, knight, chief justice of the King's Bench, Richard Danvers, William Newenham, esquire, and Margaret late the wife of Richard Clarell, being seised of the manor of Ochecote by Chepyngwardon, co. Northampton, the said Thomas, Richard and William in their demesne as of free tenure and the said Margaret in her demesne as of fee tail, by writing indented dated 1 November, 18 Edward IV, demised to William Grymmesby, esquire, for life the site of the manor and a messuage or mansion in which she then dwelt and a close in which the same is situated, parcel of the manor, and all houses, buildings, gardens, stanks and other things within the said close and s close called Hochecote Grove, parcel of the manor, the water-mill of the manor alone excepted, with remainder to themselves and the heirs male of the bodies of the said Richard Clarell and Margaret and remainder over to the right heirs of the said Richard Clarell, without licence, and that the manor is held in chief by the service of a red rose yearly at Midsummer, and the premises have accordingly been taken into the king's hands, the king, for 46s, 8d. paid in the hanaper, pardons the trespass in this.
