Grant to the king's kinsman Henry Percy, earl of Northumberland, whom the king has retained as warden of the east and middle marches of England towards Scotland for seven years from the feast of St. Peter ad Vincula last, of 1000/. yearly for the safe custody of the said marches in time of peace or truce, viz. 8761. 18s. 4d. from the issues of the customs, subsidies and petty custom in the port of Kyngeston on Hull, 2781. 6s. 8d. from the like in the port of Newcastle on Tyne, 501. from the issues of the county of Northumberland, 200/. from the issues of the lands late of Gerard Whytheryngton, knight, deceased, tenant in chief, in the county of Northumberland and in the king's hands by reason of the minority of Ralph his.son and heir, and 100/. from the issues of the manors and lordships of Tyndale, co.
