Confirmation to the abbot and convent of Middelton, upon representation by them that all their charters and muniments have been destroyed by lightning, of all their manors, lands, rents, possessions and liberties, as the same are returned in inquisitions taken by Master Richard de Abyndon and John de Batesford, assigned by the king for that purpose, viz. the manor of Middelton, held in chief in frank almoin, containing 26 hides of land, together with divers liberties, a yearly fair and a market once a week, the bedelry of the hundred of Whiteweye, the church of Middleton with its chapels of Woulond, Lyscombe and Wydecombe, the tithes of their demesnes of Holeworthe, two parts of the tithes issuing out of the demesnes in Muleburne of John de Muleburne, 5 hides of land at Woulond, held in chief in frank almoia, and 3 hides of land at Lyscombe, held in like manner, all of the gift of king Athelstan ; at la Lea, a messuage and 3 carucates of land, held in like manner, of the gift of Roger de la Lea, Emma late the wife of Ralph de la Lea, William le Squyer, Hugh le Squyer and Robert Eustace, in which place they have divers liberties of the gift of king Athelstan; the, manor of Stokland, held in like manner, containing 10 hides of land, with the advowson of the church and of the chapel of Dalewode annexed to it, member of the manor of Middelton, with divers liberties and a yearly fair in the vigil and on the day and morrow of the Assumption, and a market once a week, of the gift of king Athelstan; the manor of Brodesidelyng, with its members, Hulfeld, la Halvehide, Upsidelyng, Elyston, Chalmynton and Blakemore, and divers liberties held in like manner, together with the advowson of the church of the manor and the chapels of Hulfeld and Upsidelyng annexed to it, the manor containing 38 hides of land, viz. at Brodesidelyng 30 hides of land, at Hulfeld and la Halvehide 6 hides of land, and at Chalmynton and Blakemore 2 hides of land, of the gift of kiug Athelstan; the manor of Cattestoke with its members, Doudeleshegh, Wycham, Bestesdon and Chauntemerle, and divers liberties, held in like manner, and the advowson of the church of the town of Cattestoke, of the gift of king Athelstan ; the manors of Cumpton, containing 6 hides of land, with divers liberties and the advowson of its church, Wydecombe, Osmynton containing 5 hides, together with the advowson of its church and wreck of sea, and Holeworthe, containing 6 hides of land, with divers liberties and wreck of sea; one hide of land at Bordeleston with the advowson of the church of that town; 3 hides of land at Clyve, 1 hide at Litlepudele; at Fromemouthe, which is called the Island of St. Helen, 2 hides of land with wreck of sea; at Ore 1 hide of land with wreck of sea, all which are of the gift of the same king and are held in chief in frank almoin; at Holeweye & messuage and 2 carucates of land, held as above, of the gift of Luke de Stoke, and a messuage and one carucate of land called Bestedon of the gift of Matilda and Joan, daughters and heiresses of John de Bestedon, and of the release of John son and heir of Avicia daughter and co-heiress of the same John de Bestedon, sometime tenants of the abbot and convent, and of which they held a grant of the late king; a mill pond at Cattestoke, for the repairs of which they have turves and piles in the manor of Wroxhale, of the gift of William le Deneys, sometime lord of that manor, which grant his son Adam le Deneys confirmed ; at Knolle, a messuage and 2 carucates of land held from the abbot of Glastonbury by service of half a knight's
