Inspeximus and confirmation of an agreement between John de Hastingges, Eltham. lord of Bergeveny and Willian Martyn, lord of Kammoys, who are stay- Poot ing. with the king beyond seas on his service, dated Gaunt in Flanders, September 30, 1297, whereby William son aud heir of the former is to marry Eleanor the eldest daughter of the latter, and Edmund son and heir of the latter is to marry Jonetta the eldest daughter of the former, each of the girls to be dowered by their fathers-in-law with land to the value of 1002.8 year in case their husbands die before their fathers, and in case their husbands die after their fathers but leaving their wives surviving, they are to have the usual dowers. Witnesses: the noble baton (Ser), Anthony du Bek bishop of Durham, Sir William de Brewuse, Sir Walter de Beauchamp, then steward of the household, Sir Guy de Warwyk, Sir Peter Corbet, and others.
