Inspeximus and confirmation of a charter, 12 Edward I., of Edmund, late earl of Cornwall, remising to the Friars Preachers of Chichester the entire rent of the place in that city inhabited by them, and granting them a licence to buy or receive other plots of land there, to enclose their area with a wall or fence, and to erect an oratory with offices. Further, the friars not having hitherto acquired such land, the king grants them a licence to acquire in mortmain land adjacent to their dwelling-house for the erection of a church and buildings, and for the enlargement of their cemete and close.
