Appointment of Fulk Lovel, archdeacon of Colchester, and John Bek, to enquire, in the presence of four good men of Flanders, elected to hear inquisitions and proofs of lusses inflicted upon Flemish merchants by reason of the late contentions, and to inform the king of the names of those who have suffered and of the armounts of the losses, so that the king may do justice in the matter according to the form of the peace entered into with Guy, count of Flanders, at the instance of the said count, whereby the contentions between Henry III. and the king and Margaret countess of Flanders, the count's mother, are settled, the said Guy having thereby undertaken before the king for himself and his mother, to make restitution for losses sustained by the king's merchants, and the king willing to do the like for the countess s merchants.
