Commission of oyer and terminer to William de Shareshull, John de Peyto the elder, Henry Power and Alan de Asshe, in the counties of Gloucester and Somerset, on complaint by William de Upton of Shrewsbury, taverner, that, whereas he and other merchants had freighted at Bordeaux a ship Le Afariote of Hook, whereof Henry Tollere was master, with wines and other merchandise for Bristol, the ship on the voyage was driven ashore at Goldclyve by the violence of the sea, when, notwithstanding that those in the ship escaped alive to Clyvedon, and John le Spicer, his servant, one of these followed and claimed 20 tuns of wine, worth 1001., and other goods from the ship, which had been washed ashore by the river Severn at Goldeclyve, Asshe, Clyvedon, Walton and Portesheved, Philip, prior of Goldeclyve, Thomas, one of the monks, Thomas de Hanle, Philip de la More of Porterton, John de Usk, clerk, Richard Seelf, Joan Robyn, Willian Stevene, John Godyn of La Newport, Richard Gybyn, John Hucheun, Henry Bruggeman, John Walk, Walter White, Henry Pollard of Goldeclyve, John Sherman, William Wylcok, Walter Gormound, John Mascy, Roger Mascy, John le White, vicar of Asshe, John Martyn, John Adekyn, Gregory Meurik, John Robyn, William Sherman, Nicholas Ketyng, Adam Richeman, William Runston, John Runston, Thomas Shulf, John Persoun, Richard le Lang, John Shulf, John Nichole, Andrew de Brunton, John Roges, Katherine de Seymor, Nicholas, parson of the church of Portesheved, John, vicar of Caldecote, John de Wyk of Weston, John le Capyere of Walton, John Porterose, Laurence Mareschall, Robert le Mazoun of Portesheved, William his brother, Thomas Bile of Neweport and others carried the wine and goods away.
