Commission to John de Stonore, John Olyver and Henry de Lokkesle to make inquisition in the county of Berks touching a petition exhibited before the king and council in the last Parliament by Robert de Eleford and Theobald de Mounteny, shewing that William de Hastynges two years before his death enfeoffed them of the manor of Spene, co. Berks, held in chief, and they, by pretext of such feoffment, were seised thereof and had the king's pardon because the feoffment was made without his licence, and continued their seisin until Robert de Hadham, escheator of the king's chamber, by pretext of an inquisition taken before him ex officio whereby it was found that William died seised of the manor, took the manor into the king's hands on account of his death, and praying for restitution of the manor. 18.
