Mandate to the sheriff of York to purvey out of the issues of his bailiwick Durham. 1,200 qrs. of wheat, 1,500 qrs. of oats, 1,000 qrs. of malt, well dried and crushed, and 500 carcases of beef in his bailiwick, except in the bailiwick of Heudrenesse ; and he is to cause the wheat to be ground and well bolted so that no bran remain; and the flour to be then put in good, strong, clean barrels, and the flour is to be put in tight and well beaten down, with three hazel sticks (trots verges de coudre), and salt on the top of every barrel to keep the flour from going bad. And this is to be done by ioyal und experienced persons, so that it will keep a year, or, if necessary, two years. He is to have these things at Berewyk-on-T weed by the eve of Whitsunday next, or Whitsunday at the latest, to be delivered to the receiver of stores. And he is to pay for them out of the issues of his bailiwick, the arrears of hi account and such money as is to be levied and answered at the Exchequer at his next proffer at Easter, and these expenses will be allowed in his account. And for pursuing, overseeing, and expediting the business, the king sends to him Ralph de Dalton, king's clerk.
